Raven – Wiped Out (Neat Records, 1982)

Raven - Wiped Out 1982

Raven were formed in Newcastle, U.K. in 1974 by brothers John and Mark Gallagher (Bass / Vocals and Guitar respectively). By 1979, and after some personnel changes, the band’s classic three-man line-up was completed when drummer Rob “Wacko” Hunter joined the band.

Their debut album, “Rock Until You Drop” was released in 1981, and showcased the band’s brand of Heavy / Speed Metal (the band referred to their music as “Athletic Rock”). But it was 1982’s “Wiped Out” that more consistently displayed their fast pace.

Raven toured the U.S.A. in 1983 to promote their next album, “All For One“. Support bands included the soon-to-be very well known Thrash bands Metallica and Anthrax. Metallica had just released their debut album “Kill ‘Em All”, hence the tour was called Kill ‘Em All For One:

Personal recommendations from the “Wiped Out” album are Read All About It, Faster Than The Speed Of Light, and Live At The Inferno.
