Antichrist – Forbidden World (High Roller Records, 2011)

SONY DSC

Anyone who knows me from my posts on the Thrashmania Facebook page will be aware I’m a total old-school head. There are a few exceptions to my (mainly 1980s) tastes in Thrash, this album being one of them.

Antichrist formed in Växjö, Sweden, in 2005. They released two demos, “Crushing Metal Tape” in 2009, and “Put To Death” in 2010. The band appeared at the first four Live Evil festivals in London. I saw them at the 2014 Live Evil, and they were fucking awesome!

This is my favourite modern-day Thrash album, if you haven’t heard it yet I highly recommend it. The main influence that jumps out is early Kreator, but not in a derivative way.

Personal picks from the album are Sign Of The Beast,  Militia Of Death, and Torment In Hell.
